Keeping Oceanside Safe, Clean, and Well Maintained
Oceanside is a full service city. The City provides many public services and maintains citywide infrastructure including over 400 miles of streets and 590 miles of water pipes. We work every day to keep our community clean, safe, and well-maintained.
As the City faces rising costs and growing inflation, the Oceanside City Council is exploring options for locally-controlled future funding that the State and County cannot take away. One option being considered is placing a local sales tax measure on the November 2026 ballot to fund the City’s public safety and infrastructure needs.
If approved by Oceanside voters, this measure would provide locally controlled funding for the City to:
● Fix and maintain aging streets, repair potholes, and maintain sidewalks, parks, beaches, and public facilities
● Remove graffiti and clean up trash and litter on streets, sidewalks, and public areas
● Make improvements to roads and intersections to better manage traffic congestion
● Improve 911 emergency dispatch and response, and community safety
● Establish a Public Safety Center to enhance 911 response, community safety, and crime lab technology
A potential local funding measure would have many fiscal accountability requirements, including:
● Transparent public disclosure of all spending
● Independent Citizens Oversight Committee
● All funds would stay in Oceanside and no funds could be taken away by the State
● No tax on basic needs, including groceries, feminine hygiene products, and medicine
